Transparency to Reform Government

Picture
My skills and experience as an attorney enable me, as a County Commissioner, to scrutinize bids for government contracts and compel transparency in how the  contracts are bid, awarded, and administered.

  • Balanced Budgets for 2018 and 2020.     -See BOC Full Board Minutes 11/9/17 and 12/19/2019
  • Saved $400,000 by delaying a special election for a new jail ballot initiative - See Macomb Daily 7/19/19
  • The delay on the new jail ballot initiative resulted in the County Executive re-designing and scaling down the plan for the new jail, which saves an additional $75 million should it be placed on the ballot. -See Macomb Daily 3/16/20

Protecting Lake St. Clair and fixing our Roads

  • Garnered support and votes from 12 County Commissioners to unanimously provide $2 million towards the Public Works’ Chapaton Drain District Plan in St. Clair Shores. If implemented, the plan will cut 75% of wastewater overflows into Lake St. Clair at a feasible cost. -See Maomb Daily 10/3/19   BOC Full Board Minutes 9/26/19

  • Supported funding by Public Works to  inspect & improve drains from the Hetchler Relief Drain District, which runs through St. Clair Shores. -See Hetchler Relief Drain Board Chapter 20 Meeting 6/11/18

  • Supported funding by Public Works to  transfer $40,000  of  the Harrison Relief No.1 Drain District funds to Harrison Twp.’s Beachwood Pump Station replacement. -See Harrison Relief No.1 Drain Board Chapter 20 Meeting 5/8/17

  • Available County dollars were apportioned so that a full depth concrete repair was approved for Harper Road between 8 Mile and 9 Mile. -BOC Full Board Minutes 5/21/20

  • $2.8 million dollars from County funds applied so that Jefferson Road at the border of St. Clair Shores and Harrison Twp. is receiving a surface mill, base repair, and overlay.  -See BOC Full Board Minutes 2/20/20

Protecting Seniors and Veterans

Picture
  • Focused on directing County dollars toward programs such as Meals on Wheels and Veteran Services. I personally help by volunteering my time to do a Meals on Wheels route with my mom every other week for Senior and Veterans.

  • Voted to provide a one-year funding boost to keep Martha T. Berry open and to avoid further privatization of its operations.  This County facility cares for our most vulnerable senior and disabled citizens.   - See  BOC Full Board Minutes 12/2/19

  • As your County Commissioner, I am deeply committed to having seniors remain as independent as possible in their homes, for as long as they desire or are able.
